This morning I had the pleasure of volunteering in my child’s 2nd grade classroom. I was overcome with emotion and moved to tears when the principle came over the intercom and lead the entire school in singing “The Star Spangled Banner” followed by the pledge of allegiance. On this anniversary of such a catastrophic event in our nation’s history, it did my heart good to hear the voices of the future of our nation join together in song and unity for a love of our country. May we remember the stories of heroism and love that were written that day 16 years ago and go forward with a greater love, understanding, and tolerance for all of our fellow Americans and citizens of this world we share.
I was blessed to visit New York City last winter. It was truly a humbling and spiritual experience to visit the September 11th Memorial and Museum. If you ever have the chance to visit PLEASE PLEASE TAKE IT! Allow yourself quite a few hours to explore the monument as well as the museum. You will not regret it.
The artifacts and the audio tours were chilling yet told a story of love and heroism. I choked back the tears until it wasn’t possible to anymore. Today and everyday, I am proud to be an American!
